The Business Buddha has developed a world class wellbeing day for your employees, in collaboration with Katie Robinson, who has trained with The Forest Bathing Institute. We help companies to develop more effective leaders, and to build resilience among staff so they cope better under stress. We work with teams to enable them to function at a higher level. Enjoy our therapeutic experience in woodland, mixed with classroom training to fully support your experience. Forest Bathing is an elementary practice which can elicit surprisingly profound positive reactions. It can be described as mindful time spent under the canopy of trees using the senses. Deep breathing is also encouraged; Japanese research has uncovered that essential wood oils help boost our immune system. We include a relaxation and mindfulness exercise during the outdoor session, to truly experience the benefit of learnings from the classroom.

Some of the scientifically proven benefits of spending time in woodland include reduced stress levels, stronger immune system response, and a stabilised cortisol cycle. During this session you will be provided with a sequence of sensory exercises designed to calm the body and mind. If you have ever wondered about the healing benefits of nature, this day will show you what is possible.

The course can host a team of up to 12 people.

Why Forest Bathing?

Forest Bathing is the English translation of the Japanese term ‘Shinrin-yoku’. To better understand this entire concept more accurately, it means ‘spending quality time, under the canopy of trees in a forest, for health and wellbeing purposes’. In Japan there is a large body of data to show that Forest Bathing can:

  • Reduce blood pressure
  • Lower stress and cortisol levels
  • Improve cardiovascular and metabolic health
  • Help lose weight
  • Lower blood-sugar levels
  • Improve concentration and memory
  • Lift depression
  • Improve pain thresholds

A forest is an ecosystem with every living thing inter-connected and playing a vital role in supporting itself and the forest as a whole. In this respect it is no different to a modern organisation, where we each play a part and contribute to the organisation’s success, growth and purpose. Trees can stand for hundreds of years but they don’t stand alone – they communicate, collaborate and support . For example evergreen trees in winter pass on nutrition to other trees, and using an ‘internet of fungus’ trees pass messages to each other to adapt to threats from pests attacking the tree. When you experience trees and forests in a new way, we learn to use our senses and our emotions more effectively at work.
